The Japanese auto major- Yamaha is going to launch the awaited YZF-R3 in India tomorrow. The bike is expected to be priced around Rs. 3 lacs and it will be launched at the India’s only F1 race track- Buddh International Circuit (BIC).
Yamaha R3 is a supersport style entry-level-performance motorcycle, which is powered by a 321cc, parallel-twin mill. The liquid-cooled motor provides it a maximum power of 41.4bhp and delivers a peak torque of 29.6Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox via a wet multi-plate clutch arrangement.
Bolted on a diamond type frame, the R3 comes with KYB suspension set-up including 41mm telescopic front forks and linkless rear suspension with seven-step preload adjuster. The bike runs on 17” split-spoke alloys, which comes covered with MRF Revz tyres. for high-performance braking, it has dual disc brake system with Akebono brake calipers. The ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) feature might not be standard with the bike and it could cost extra Rs. 30,000 over the standard trim.
Unlike the other R series motorcycles, Yamaha R3 is not that aggressive towards the track riding and you can also use this motorcycle easily for your daily rides. Its closest competitors in the market are Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC 390, Honda CBR250R and Hyosung GT250R.
