2012 EICMA has witnessed a lot of new bikes and updated version of existing ones. Austrian bike maker KTM was also there with some wonderful bikes, Duke 1290 R Concept, Duke 690, Duke 390 and ABS version of Duke 200 and 125. For your information, ABS is mandatory in Europe; thus KTM has given the ABS to all 2013 models of Duke 125 and Duke 200. The KTM Duke 125 is the world's first 125cc bike to get an ABS and it makes the bike safer than ever. Those who are not familiar with the Duke 125, it is the youngest in the Duke series and comes with a refined four-stroke single cylinder engine with fuel injection mated to a six-speed transmission that provides decent ride ability with low fuel consumption. The bike is very popular among the stuntmen as it provides maximum riding fun, powerful propulsion and optimum user value thanks to KTM’s thoroughbred motorcycle technology. The bike features a lightweight chassis with high-quality components and efficient brakes.
Indian bike manufacturer Bajaj Auto is responsible for all Indian operations in India and Bajaj Auto also holds a 47% stake in KTM. Bajaj Auto is already manufacturing and selling the Duke 200 in India, and we are expecting that they will also offer ABS on it by next year. Most probably, they will offer it as an option, similar to the Honda CBR250R. The 2013 KTM Duke 200 and 125 are simillar to the existing models except for the ABS and ABS sticker on the Duke siblings. We are also expecting the Duke 125 in the country as the youth are expecting some more thrill in lower segments.
