On January 20, Ducati Satellite Team celebrated their 15th anniversary in the MotoGP championship and the celebration event was held at Pramac headquarter in Casole d’Elsa, Siena. At the event, Pramac Ducati riders Danilo Petrucci and Scott Redding pulled the curtains off from Pramac's 2016 Ducati MotoGP motorcycles. Both, Redding and Petrucci take the place of Yonny Hernandez in the squad’s lineup for 2016 season and will ride the same bike that was used by Ducati riders Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone previous year.
While speaking on the Pramac website, Danilo Petrucci stated, “I am very pleased to be here and be a part of the Pramac family for the second year in a row. I am especially happy because I have found a close-knit group that has not changed. The great relationship I have with Daniele Romagnoli (Petrucci’s crew chief) and all of the guys on the team reinforces the trust between us. I can’t wait to begin because there is so much to do, especially in light of the new regulations. I have a great desire to do better. The tests went very well, especially at Jerez where we made great strides forward compared to Valencia.”
Recently, the Italian Satellite team partnered with Yakhnich Motorsport (Russian Superbike squad) and the all new 2016 Pramac Ducati machines will display 'Octo Pramac Yakhnich' moniker on the front fairing. Apart from the moniker, the bikes will also feature Pramac's signature in red & white attire and blue highlights.
Team manager of Octo Pramac Yakhnich, Francesco Guidotti said, “This is an evening charged with emotion for me. To celebrate 15 years of Pramac Racing after already experiencing 5 years is a really wonderful feeling. I have lived a third of Pramac Racing history. We are coming from a season filled with accomplishments. Thanks to Danilo, the team reached the podium for the first time since 2008, but our goal is to do even better. The only person who cannot do better is the person who wins. Technical regulations have shuffled the cards, so we are talking about an important breakthrough. We have to work hard for this. But we are starting with great enthusiasm because a great challenge lies ahead of us. How much we can improve is difficult to say. Last year we bet on Danilo and we were right. This year we are betting on Scott and relaunching Danilo. It will be a season with many new opportunities, but we are ready to face new challenges and we can’t wait to get on the racetrack and battle it out.”
However, Movistar Yamaha became the first team to unveil their 2016 MotoGP machines. As we reported earlier, Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo unveiled their bikes at Movistar head office at Barcelona in Spain and the Italian giant Ducati is the second in the queue making the season exciting even before its kick-off.
