A gnarly Italian has entered the Indian two-wheeler market as Ducati has launched the Hypermotard 950 SP. Priced at Rs 19.05 lakh (ex-showroom), it is Rs 3.05 lakh more expensive than the Hypermotard 950 RVE.
In terms of styling, compared to the standard and the RVE models, the 950 SP gets a special white and red livery with black stripes. The iconic Ducati Red colour is present on the livery but the contrasting white and black colours give a refreshing feel to the whole bike. And the manic looking design adds to the supermoto’s aggressive stance. The Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP is powered by a 937cc, liquid-cooled, L-twin cylinder engine producing 114PS at 9000rpm and 96Nm at 7250rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quickshifter and slipper clutch available as standard.
The suspension setup consists of a 48mm fully-adjustable inverted fork with 185mm wheel travel and a fully adjustable monoshock with 175mm wheel travel (both from Ohlins). Braking duties are taken care of by dual 320mm front disc brakes with radially mounted 4-piston Monobloc Brembo calipers and a single 245mm disc brake with 2-piston caliper with 3 levels of Bosch’s Cornering ABS available as standard. It has a wheelbase of 1498mm, seat height of 890mm and a 191kg wet weight without fuel. The 950 SP gets 3-spoke Marchesini 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends with 120-section front and 180-section rear Pirelli Diablo Supercosa SP tyres.
In terms of features, the bike comes equipped with a 4.3-inch TFT instrument console, a USB charging port and 3 riding modes: Sport, Touring and Urban. Other rider aids include Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO and Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO. The Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP is the most hyper focused supermoto in the Hypermotard lineup with everything turned up to 11. If you want something that gnarly and have the budget for it, the 950 SP will make you stand out in a crowd of other Ducati owners.
