The 2017 model of the iconic Honda Fireblade (CBR1000RR) has been spotted and it might get some major updates along with the restyling.
The litre-class supersport is a special category of motorcycles for both riders and manufacturers, and Honda Fireblade (CBR1000RR) is one of the most heard names in this field. While other manufacturers followed the demands of technology and performance to update their offerings, Honda remained silent for a long time and the name Fireblade started losing its popularity. However, it seems the manufacturer has finally woken up to the demands of the new era and plans to update its iconic litre-class machine, the CBR1000RR, which will enter the market in 2017. The bike has been spotted during a photo shoot on a race track.
If we look at its competitors -- such as the 2016 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and the new-generation Yamaha YZF-R1 -- the existing Honda CBR1000RR lacks in every aspect, including styling, power and the electronic package on offer. And we believe that Honda will address all these shortcomings with the 2017 model to regain its position in the battle for supremacy. According to some reports, the company has been working on this upcoming motorcycle for many years, which means it was not just a muffled spectator, but it was carefully observing the requirements of the time.
Going by the spy pictures of the 2017 Honda Fireblade, it seems to have got a complete restyling. The new bodywork looks edgier, sharper and more aerodynamic compared to the existing model. The new headlamp unit might remind you the recently introduced CBR250RR and the rear section has also been completely redesigned. The frame and the swingarm seem to have been retained from the existing model. However, the multi-spoke wheels are new. The suspension set-up and the braking system seems to have got an upgrade in the upcoming model and it gets a new, bigger exhaust muffler as well.
The engine casing suggests that the 2017 Honda Fireblade might use the same 999cc, inline-four motor that powers the existing version. However, we can say that the company will improve the motor to meet Euro-IV emission standards and might to deliver better performance as well. Moreover, the new-generation CBR1000RR is likely to get an advanced electronic package in order for the bike to stand with its new class of competitors. The package is expected to include traction control, quickshifter, riding modes, and much more. Speculations are rife that the 2017 Honda CBR1000RR will be introduced officially at the 2016 EICMA show in Milan in November, while the global launch is likely to happen in the first quarter of 2017.
