And the pillion seat is not the only update on the iconic moped
The evergreen Japanese moped, Honda Super Cub 125, has been overhauled for 2021 and launched in Europe at EUR 3,499, nearly Rs 3.08 lakh. So, what exactly has Team Red done to ensure the moped is still alluring in this era?
The most significant change for this year comes in the form of an updated engine. Now, the 124cc air-cooled unit features redesigned crankcases, with the top-end borrowed from the 2021 Honda Grom. The motor, paired with a four-speed gearbox with an automatic clutch, produces 9.78PS at 7,500rpm and 10.39Nm at 6,250rpm. The Japanese manufacturer has also given the cub a smaller airbox and a new injector to boost efficiency.

The 2021 Honda Super Cub retains its iconic silhouette, but now features all-around LED illumination and even comes with Honda’s smart key system. The most noticeable update is the new colour and the addition of a pillion seat.
Honda has also made changes to the springs of the telescopic fork and twin rear shock absorbers for increased pillion comfort. However, the 220mm front disc and 110mm drum brake have been carried over from the older model.
The 2021 Honda Super Cub 125 is definitely not on cards for India. But something else has been brewing lately; Honda has been testing its electric scooter, the Benly e, in India. Will that launch here in the country? Find out in this story.
