New images of the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan at the dealer yard have surfaced online, hinting at an imminent launch. Likely to hit the market in the coming weeks, the 2021 iteration could command a premium of around Rs 5,000 over the current ex-showroom Delhi price of Rs 1.91 lakh.
This silver variant looks identical to the digital image leaked earlier in January. As expected, it now gets slightly forward-set tank braces (for better knee clearance, especially for the taller riders), plushier seats, and more importantly, Tripper Navigation. The navigation pod is mounted as an extension, leaving the basic layout of the semi-digital instrument cluster unchanged. This, coupled with the already-existing digital compass, should further ease exploring the unknown.
Expect the mechanicals to remain unchanged. The 2021 Himalayan will be powered by the same 411cc fuel-injected, air-cooled, counterbalanced engine with oil cooler. The motor makes 24.8PS and 32Nm, working alongside a 5-speed transmission. Royal Enfield has provided the option to switch off the ABS for the rear wheel in the BS6 bike, so expect the same to be carried over onto the 2021 model as well. We swung our leg over the BS6 iteration, and here’s what we think.
In related news, Royal Enfield has planned to launch a new bike every quarter. So, after the upcoming Himalayan, expect the brand to follow it up with the 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, and the Royal Enfield Roadster 650 flagship cruiser later this year. You can check out more details about the recently spied sportier variant of the cruiser.
