Bajaj V15, the bike made from the metal of Indian warship hero INS Vikrant, has finally started reaching the dealerships. With this, the dealers have also started taking bookings and the prospective buyers can book it with a minimum token amount of Rs. 1100. The deliveries will start next month and some dealers have indicated that the bike will be priced between Rs. 61,000 and Rs, 64,000 (ex-showroom).
The company purchased the scrap metal of INS Vikrant and used it for manufacturing the bike. However, only the fuel tank of the machine contains the metal of INS Vikrant and Bajaj claims that the amount it has purchased to make V15 will be good enough for a few lac units. If some reports are to be believed, Bajaj bought the scrap metal for Rs. 1.8 lac that included 1 metric tonne of aluminium and 2 metric tonnes of iron and steel.
Powering the bike is a 149.5cc, four-stroke engine that comes mated to a five-speed transmission. The motor generates a maximum power of 11.83bhp at 7,500rpm along with a peak torque of 13Nm at 5,500rpm. Other features include a sporty removable rear cowl, INS Vikrant insignia on the fuel tank, LED tail lamps & fuel level indicator and robust black alloy wheels.
At such a price, the bike will surely give a good option to buyers who are interested in a 150cc motorcycle and consider price a big factor. With enough being said on the V15 in the past few days and the features it offers, the bike seems capable enough to give a strong competition to its rivals and grab a good market share in the respective segment. Stay tuned for more updates!
