Honda Activa e
The Honda Activa e is one scooter which we have been waiting for, for a very long time. It features a modern design, which tries to maintain the same silhouette as the petrol-powered Honda Activa. It gets an LED headlight and DRLs, which manage to give the scooter a more sophisticated look, with the modern styling.
The scooter has dual 1.5kWh battery packs, which are swappable. The scooter offers a claimed range of 102km. Honda is currently working on setting up swap stations across the country. The brand has launched this first in major cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai, and it will be coming to more cities in the near future.
The battery is connented to a 6kW motor. It has a claimed top speed of 80kmph and delivers a claimed 0-60kmph acceleration time of 7.3 seconds.
Coming to the features, the Honda Road Sync Duo variant of the scooter has 3 riding modes on offer: Econ, Standard and Sport. IT gets a 7-inch TFT console which offers smartphone connectivity and related features such as turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts. The e-scooter also offers night modes which helps optimize the brightness of the TFT console, and make it easier to read.
Honda has also given it H-Smart connectivity features such as a keyless unlock and start along with features like smart find, that help locate the scooter in crowded parking spots. Lastly, the scooter also gets safety features like smart lock.
The Base variant of the Honda Activa e gets a smaller TFT console and misses out on a couple of connectivity features.
Now, Honda has made the Activa e with one thing in mind, which is range anxiety free commuting. For this, the brand has used swappable batteries at the expense of under seat storage space. Overall, the Honda Activa e looks quite good and we are glad it has finally come to India.
Honda QC1
The Honda QC1 will be a more family-oriented scooter when compared to the Honda Activa e. It features a similar look and styling as the Activa, but misses out on the LED DRL mounted on the apron.
The scooter gets a 1.5kWh in-built battery pack, which offers a claimed range of 80km on a full charge. The battery pack takes 4 hours and 30 minutes to charge from 0-80 percent. The scooter is powered by a 1.8kW electric motor, which gives a claimed top speed of 50kmph.
It is a lot more simple when it comes to features, and only gets a simple 5-inch LCD instrument console that offers essential readouts. The scooter only gets 2 riding modes: Standard and Econ.
What really improves the practicality of the scooter is the large 26-litre underseat storage. This is one benefit of the smaller in-built battery pack and makes the scooter a lot more suited to meeting family needs.
Overall, we are glad that big names like Honda are also entering the EV segment with their two-wheeler offerings. This will improve the variety of offerings that are currently available in the market, and also help in improving EV adoption overall.
