The upcoming commuter bike will be powered by a 100cc engine
After recently introducing the top-end Activa 6G with a keyless function, Honda is back with something new. It is, in fact the highly-awaited commuter motorcycle from the firm, and from what we gather, the block-your-date invite scheduled for March 15, 2023 suggests it will be a 100cc bike. What we can further speculate from the invite is that this motorcycle could be a smaller Honda Shine, perhaps called the Honda Shine 100.
The Honda Shine has been a popular name among the masses and in fact, the Shine is the best-selling 125cc bike in India. Honda could use the motorcycle’s popularity to offer a downsized 100cc commuter-focused Shine and sell it alongside the Shine 125. Furthermore, there’s a good chance that Honda may bring back it’s iconic ‘sloper’ engine to compete with the king of the hill - the Hero Splendor which continues to be the best-selling motorcycle in India today.

What this mystery motorcycle is and will behold is yet to be seen and our questions will be answered soon. Currently, Honda’s most affordable bike is the CD110 Dream Deluxe which retails at Rs 71,133, whereas the base, drum-brake variant of the Hero Splendor Plus costs Rs 72,076.
On the other hand, one of the most affordable 100cc bikes, the Hero HF100, retails at Rs 56,968 (all ex-showroom ). Hence to compete well, Honda will price this smartly, perhaps around the Rs 65,000-Rs 70,000 range. Apart from the Splendor and HF 100, it will also rival the Bajaj Platina 100.
