The Italian bike maker, Ducati has announced that in the upcoming years they could add a 1100cc supersize Scrambler as a new family member . Federico Sabbioni, Project Manager Ducati, insisted any machine with bigger displacement would bond to the Scrambler’s philosophy of two-valve, air-cooled engine.
At the launch event of Scrambler Sixty2 in Barcelona, Federico Sabbioni told Visordown, “We've got the engines, there is room to make something bigger. We'll see, we have a number of ideas and we're thinking about it, there is a volcano of ideas.”
He further added, “I think we will continue to apply this kind of engine. We have in the past made a number of different displacements of this engine so we have experience and room to do a different version in terms of engine sizing. There's great possibility to stretch the brand with the 800cc engine, then of course there's also the possibility to make the bigger engine”.
Presently, Ducati’s range features the biggest Desmodue that is 800cc air-cooled engine which can be seen in this Scrambler. The supersize Scrambler could use the 1100cc Desmodue Evoluzione, which was last used in the Monster EVO and discontinued in 2013. This engine could be re-tuned for better power performance and to meet the Euro 4 norms.
Though, the Italian marque did not participate in 2016 Auto Expo and we missed the most-awaited 959 Panigale at the event. But, it looks like that the company has something special for us as it coming with the muscular beast 959 Panigale at the Indian Bike Week (IBW), the biggest biking festival of the country.
