Ducati to enter the Indian Market with own network

The Italian auto major Ducati has decided to end its contract with Precision Motor, which was importing Ducati bikes in India so far. The company now will sell its bikes in India through its own network. Ducati is selling motorcycles in India from 2008, however Indian group Precision Motor was importing these bikes from Italy and selling them through its dealerships in Mumbai and Chandigarh. Now, the Italian manufacturer is quite not happy with the service of the dealer due to poor sales and after sales service.

India is a rising market for performance bikes and many of the manufacturers are eyeing on the market with its exiting product range. Recently, British brand Triumph has also made its debut in the market with a line up of 10 products in 5 different categories of superbikes. Ducati wishes to increase its market share in the world's largest two wheeler market. So, they have decided make solo entry in the market and make a better base for their range of products.

Vice President Sales and Marketing, Ducati, Mr. Cristiano Silei said, “We consider India an extremely important part of Ducati’s future global strategy and will strengthen our presence in the market with premium services and a larger network that will be in line with our global standards. Our entry into the Indian market is therefore a first step in this direction.”

Now when the Ducati will be directly involved in the Indian operations the possibilities of new investments has increased, and we can also expect a new assembly or manufacturing plant to be settled up in India. So, that the manufacturer can reduce the cost of products by selling CKD products instead of the CBU units.
