The year 2015 has been fantastic for HMSI so far, as the company introduced 15 vehicles, which it promised. Reportedly, Honda is planning to refresh its product portfolio and bringing 14 vehicles by next year. Most of Honda Vehicles will receive mechanical changes to comply with upcoming norms, which are to be implemented by April 2017.

According to Economic Times, most of the Honda two-wheelers will be upgraded with BS-IV engine next year. During the interview with Economic Times, Keita Muramatsu told, “The implementation of BS-IV norms and Combi Brakes System (CBS) etc will increase the cost. And if like cars, if BS-V norm is advance then the further cost will increase, nothing is predictable right now. However, we will try to find a cost effective solutions also”.

"We expect the two-wheeler market to do a little better than this year in the range of 3-5% in FY16-17 as the rural market is still under stress so we don't see any turnaround in the six months at least...the main growth driver for the two-wheeler industry would be scooters and we have also seen revival in the 125 cc and somewhat momentum in the 150 cc so primarily the growth will come from urban and semi urban markets," said Y S Guleria, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, HMSI.

The safety norm states that all the vehicles having up to 125cc engines needed to be equipped with CBS (Combi-Braking System) and those vehicles having more than 125cc displacement capacity should receive a mandatory ABS.
