The new Husky twins will share their motors with the KTM 490s

Husqvarna entered the Indian two-wheeler market in 2019 with the Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 250. Now, the brand is looking at bringing in more models in the near future, and the Svartpilen 501 and the Vitpilen 501 could likely be scheduled for late 2022.

With KTM boss Stefan Pierer confirming the 490cc Duke, RC and Adventure models, it’s only sensible for Husqvarna to broaden its own portfolio as well. The Husqvarna Svartpilen 501 and the Vitpilen 501 will be powered by the KTM 490 Duke-sourced twin-cylinder motor. And their design could be largely similar to the currently available 250cc Husqvarna motorcycles.

The upcoming Husqvarna Svartpilen 501 and Vitpilen 501 would not only make for a good upgrade to the internationally available 401s but also the quarter-litre Husky bikes sold in India. Moreover, there is a possibility that these models might be manufactured at Bajaj’s upcoming new plant in Chakan, alongside their Austrian siblings. But looking at the current pandemic situation, it won’t be a surprise if there’s a delay in the launch of the Husqvarna 501s.

The new offerings will help Husqvarna establish a firm footing in the middleweight category of motorcycles, which is currently ruled by Royal Enfield, Honda, Benelli and Kawasaki. If priced aggressively enough, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 501 and the Vitpilen 501 could very well have an edge over their competition.

Apart from that, the Swedish motorcycle brand has also revealed its plans for electric mobility. Along with the Vektorr e-Scooter Concept, Husqvarna is also working on the E-Pilen motorcycle
