It's looking like that Indian Motorsport is on a roller coaster ride, a couple of years back we have had only a single racer, then our own F1 team, then this year Hero MotoCorp and Mahindra announced to enter into the world of racing. And after hosting two Grand Prix, it is time to host World Superbike Championship at Buddh International Circuit, New Delhi. FIM has recently unveiled the championship calender, which shows that World Superbike Championship (WSBK) will make its Indian debut on 9th March 2013. We reported earlier about 2013 MotoGP's Indian Debut, when Jaypee Sports International Ltd (JPSI) and Infront Motor Sports entered a deal to host World Superbike Championship at Buddh International Circuit.

India will host the second race of World Superbike Championship, while the first being scheduled to held at Phillip Island, Australia. Buddh International Circuit is one of the finest racing circuits around the globe and the credit goes to Jaypee Sports International Ltd. The circuit had been awarded with the '2011 Motorsport Facility of the Year' for the flawless execution of India's first Formula One Grand Prix in 2011 and recently organized the second consecutive Grand Prix.

“We are extremely happy to announce that besides holding the Formula One and FIA GT1 motor racing series, we will also hold a thrilling motorcycle race. There are many in India who are passionate about bikes. I am sure they would love to watch famed motorcycle drivers compete against each other here at their own world class racing circuit,” Sameer Gaur, JPSI MD and CEO, had said on signing the deal with IMS.

The event will see teams from popular superbike makers like Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Aprilia, and BMW locking horns and battling it out for the podium. “We are sure that the Superbike World Championship will bring added value to BIC, as well as to India and vice versa . It will also deliver value to all the automobile companies supporting and following our Championship, a very important opportunity to expand their brands and business in Asia,” Maurizio Flammini, Chairman of Infront Motor Sports, said.
