It looks sharp, despite the obvious maxi-scooter elements all over

Rumours have been developing for a while now that KTM is working on a new electric scooter and some spy shots surfaced on the internet a few days ago suggest that it is indeed true. There are no KTM decals on the scooter, but the KTM-branded clothing worn by the tester links the e-scooter to the Austrian manufacturer.

Judging by the images, the scooter looks like it is in a very early development stage. The indicators seen on the scooter also suggest that it might be developed for Husqvarna, as the design looks very similar to the ones seen on current Husqvarna models.

The battery cells on the KTM e-scooter are mounted under the floorboard, which should give it a low centre of gravity. This is similar to how the battery pack is mounted on the Ather 450X and the Simple One.

The aluminium swingarm has a typical KTM design. The e-scooter gets disc brakes with ABS both at the front and the rear, and a twin headlight setup. Features on offer comprise a large touchscreen display shrouded by a neat windshield. There should be ample storage area under the seat as the batteries are mounted under the floorboard.

While not a lot of information is available about the motor, the e-scooter from KTM will probably be available in 4kW and 8kW variants with a top speeds of 45kmph and 100kmph respectively.

The scooter is still in its prototype stage and we expect Bajaj to be involved in the development process as well. The scooter is also expected to be manufactured in India with Bajaj but it will only be first offered in the European markets. And we can expect it to arrive on our shores sometime later.
