New Honda BS6 Scooter Launching Tomorrow

It is likely to be an updated version of the Activa 125

Honda is all set to launch its first BS6 product tomorrow. About a week ago, the brand sent out a teaser of a pin falling on the ground along with the caption: “Please hold a pin drop silence”. The teaser invite also stated that the upcoming product will be Honda’s first BS6 two-wheeler. It’s likely that the Japanese brand is planning to launch a new scooter, most probably the new Activa 125. 

The 125cc scooter was spotted testing a few months ago. It comes with subtle design updates for a more premium feel. The scooter gets an engine kill switch and a semi-digital instrument cluster, which is reported to have Bluetooth pairing capabilities as well. We also believe the scooter will feature Honda’s Idle Stop System, which is similar to Hero’s i3S (Idle Stop Start System).

The upcoming scooter will be powered by a 125cc air-cooled engine with fuel injection. This should result in a smoother power delivery. But whether the power output gets a bump or not is something we shall find out post the launch. For reference, the outgoing scooter produces 8.6PS at 6500rpm and 10.54Nm at 5000rpm.

We believe the upcoming scooter will command a premium of about Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 over the current-gen Activa 125, which costs 60,347 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant. It’s primary competitors will be TVS NTorq 125 (Rs 58,252) and Hero Maestro Edge 125 (Rs 58,500), both prices ex-showroom Delhi.
