This will be TVS’ second 125cc scooter offering after the NTorq 125

[UPDATE: TVS has launched its second 125cc scooter, called the Jupiter 125, with prices starting from Rs 73,400 (ex-showroom).]

TVS is all set to launch a new 125cc scooter a few hours from now. Judging by the teasers, it is likely to be the Jupiter 125, the Hosur-based manufacturer’s first family-oriented scooter in the 125cc segment, as the TVS Ntorq 125 is more of a sporty offering catering to a younger audience. Expect the Jupiter 125 to be priced at around Rs 70,000-Rs 75,000 (ex-showroom).

The teaser shows the indicators with integrated LED DRLs. The shape of the indicators are quite similar to the ones on the 110cc TVS Jupiter. Moreover, another teaser video shows a semi-digital instrument cluster with a mileage indicator. However, smartphone connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation does not seem to be present.

The Jupiter 125 will likely be powered by an engine derived from the TVS NTorq 125’s heart. In the sporty scooter, the 124.8cc three-valve motor churns out 9.38PS and 10.50Nm. However, we expect the engine to be tuned differently to suit the Jupiter 125’s character. Besides, underpinnings including the telescopic front fork, preload adjustable shock absorber, and 12-inch wheels are all expected to be carried over. TVS might also offer a more affordable drum brake-equipped variant for the more cost-conscious buyers.

The upcoming TVS Jupiter 125 will go up against the Suzuki Access 125, Honda Activa 125, Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi, and the Hero Destini 125.
