With Honda’s official kits, you can turn your retro Honda into a tourer, scrambler or even a cafe racer

Honda has launched its “My CB, My Way” programme – which is essentially six customisation kits for the H’Ness CB350 and the CB350RS. The kits will be  available on sale through Big Wing India dealerships from the second half of this month. Here’s a lowdown on these kits:

Comfort Kit

Price: Rs 16,500

As the name suggests, this kit is primarily intended to amp up the comfort levels of the H’Ness CB350. This kit consists of a cushier seat, wider footpegs for the rider, an engine guard and a sump guard, fork gators, metal bar-end weights, saddle stays, pillion backrest, knuckle guards, and a taller visor.

The knuckle guards have a two-point mounting system, which makes them sturdy. And although most of the bits from this kit are useful and well-built, the lower engine guard looks more like a cosmetic addition. The puny guard can take head-on impacts only, and doesn’t offer any protection to the underside of the engine.

Tourer Kit

Price: Rs 17,600

This kit for the H’Ness CB350 gets almost the same goodies as the Comfort kit with the backrest being replaced by a luggage carrier. Furthermore, the bike also comes with a new side cover garnish. Currently, Big WIng India doesn’t have any luggage options currently, but the company is considering launching them in the future.

Solo Carrier Kit

Price: Rs 16,200

With this kit, Honda offers a flyscreen, solo seat, luggage carrier, side cover garnish, engine guards, fork gators and metal bar-end weights. Without the visor, saddle stays and the wider rider footpegs, touring may not be as convenient as with the other kits, but should be fine for weekend rides.

Cafe Racer Kit (H’Ness CB350)

Price: Rs 22,200

This is the most expensive kit for the H’Ness CB350, and comes with a headlight cowl, single seat cowl, a different seat, side cover garnish, engine guard, a sump guard and fork gators borrowed from the CB350RS, and metal bar-end weights.

With the cafe racer kit, the bike looks gorgeous, but there are some limitations. Firstly, you’ll have to replace the seat every time you want to take a pillion. Then there’s the ergonomics of the bike which don’t really go with the cafe racer looks. With the neutrally-set pegs and the tall-ish handlebar, you end up sitting like you would on a roadster, on a bike that looks sporty.

Cafe Racer Kit (CB350RS)

Price: Rs 17,500

For the CB350RS, Big Wing India has offered the same headlight cowl as the one for the H’Ness, but instead of the seat cowl, this kit gets a seat cover. So, when you are riding with a pillion, you can simply remove the cover at home and ride, something similar that Royal Enfield offers with its Continental GT 650’s accessories. Other bits include colour-coded rim stripes, side cover garnish, engine guard and bar-end weights.

This kit not just looks good, but is also functional. The relatively sportier ergos of the CB350RS combined with the new headlight and seat cowls add to the visual appeal.

SUV Kit

Price: Rs 7,500

This is the most affordable kit from Honda. Designed for the CB350RS, this kit comes with a flyscreen, knuckle guards, saddle stays and colour-coded rim stickers. This kit makes the CB350RS a bit friendlier for weekend rides.

The new customisation kits allows owners and new buyers to personalise their CB350 as per their taste, however, these are priced a bit on the higher side. Furthermore, you cannot pick individual bits to truly customise the bike. Our favourite was the Cafe Racer kit for the CB350RS. Which one is yours? Let us know in the comments.
