Revolt Intellicorp has announced that its first electric bike will be launched on 18 June. It will also be the first electric motorcycle to go on sale in India. Development and manufacturing of the motorcycle is currently underway at the company’s Manesar plant which is spread across 1 lakh sq.ft and has a production capacity of 1.2 lakh units annually.
The electric motorcycle had cleared homologation at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) in April. And though details are scarce, Revolt Intellicorp says that the upcoming electric motorcycle will offer a real-world range of over 150km, but the top speed will be capped at 85kmph. Revolt Motors also says that the upcoming electric motorcycle will get swappable lithium ion batteries.
Being its maiden product, Revolt has loaded the bike with lots of features. For starters, it will get over the air (OTA) updates via an integrated 4G SIM, combined braking system and AI-based features, which will improve the battery’s performance as per the riding style.
Apart from electric two-wheelers, the company is also planning to enter personal, institutional and commercial markets. Initially, Revolt is looking at 75 per cent localisation, but is aiming to increase that to 100 per cent by the end of 2020. The upcoming electric bike will get the benefits of the FAME II scheme, and thus, is expected to be priced under Rs 1 lakh (on-road).
