We have read so many times that it is the age of technology and inventions and the world of automobile is coming up with new invention every day. The 2012 EICMA has witnessed many of such fantastic inventions and designs, but the bike which impressed us most is a very unique concept called the Brutus. The bikeis a unique concept, which has traits of both ATVs and bikes; some calling it ‘half ATV half Bike’ and others ‘SUV of motorcycles’. It looks rough and muscular that one can lose his heart at first sight. The bike has been designed by Lambretta designer, Alessandro Tatarini, and according to him it is the “SUV of motorcycles”. Honestly speaking, we are totally agreed with him, an SUV comes with both off-roading and adventure sport traits, and this bike is looking meant for this very purpose.
The bike feature a single-cylinder 750cc engine capable of churning out 45bhp, this engine could be a good power unit for an off-road machine but in Brutus' case it has to move around as the beast weighs 220 kg. That is why, it doesn’t return enough power to weight ratio that we expect from an off-roader or a dirt bike. If you are thinking to climb a hill with this bike then it is not going to be work out, they have to increase the power of this beast. The wheels are strikingly wide: 6” rim in the front and a 7.5” for the rear, loaded with huge tires. Melting snow and mud could be the kind of conditions Alessandro had in mind when he made this choice, but with such a heavy machine atop, we have serious doubts they will amaze anyone.
The manufacturer also promises extensive optional packages including a winch, fire-prevention kit and even a snow kit. We're eager to see how things will develop; the bike looks rough. For the design, thumbs up to the Lamberetta and Alessandro, but these guys have to work on its power to weight ratio or it will be a flop show like other hundreds of experimental bikes. That is all we have for now, let’s see what will happen in future.
