Top 10 Future Bikes at 2012 EICMA

EICMA or International Milan Motorcycle Show is one the biggest automobile shows and the biggest motorcycles show in the world. The ongoing EICMA is the 70th EICMA, which started back in 1914 and is organised once a year in the capital city Milan, Italy. The Milan Motorshow is considered as most proclaimed stage to showcase concepts and upcoming bikes among the bike makers. 2012 EICMA is very special as a lot of major happenings have taken place overthere. We have short-listed 10 bikes that are winning hearts and have the potential to rule the markets as well. (In no particular order.)

1. MV Agusta Rivale Concept:

The Italian bike maker MV Agust win hearts with its newly developed Rivale concept. The Rivale is a supermoto-style concept bike, which is meant to rival to the Ducati Hypermotard. This Italian machine utilizes a compact 800cc inline-triple powerplant, which it shares with Brutale 800 naked bike, featuring a counter-rotating crankshaft to reduce inertia while turning, making for lighter handling and this is something you will find only in a Moto GP bike. The Rivale features a traditionally Italian upper steel-tube trellis frame as per MV's typical styling, connected to aluminum plates that tie the rear of the motorcycle together. Out back are unusual twin side-mounted tail lights, along with an MV-signature triple-pipe muffler. The bike also won the 'Most Beautiful Bike' award.

2. Vespa 946:

On the second spot, its once again an Italian. The Vespa 946, a beautiful scooter from the Piaggio's reputed stable, is a combination of Italian art design and economical transportation. It is the production version of the 2011 Quarantasei concept scooter. Apart from its stunning design, it also getting a claimed 45kmpl mileage, the 946’s engine is a 125cc, three-valve single with fuel-injection. The little Italian bike even has traction control and ABS. Arguably the most stylish scooter in the world, it does, however, sacrifice the typical large under-seat storage area in exchange for the elegant, wasp-like body shape. The scooter also bagged the 'Best Of Show' award for its elegance.

3. 2013 KTM Duke 1290:

Austrian bikemaker KTM showcased a total five bikes at EICMA including KTM 690, India bound KTM 390, KTM Duke 200 and 125 ABS, KTM Freeride 350 and KTM 1290 Concept. KTM1290 Super Duke R Concept was the most impressive bike at KTM's stand and causing a lot of jaws to drop. It looks muscular, rough and brutal and was the shows eye candy for sure. Naked, brash, aggressive are just a few words that describe this beast, which uses a bored out version of KTM's RC8R super bike's 1195cc liquid-cooled V-twin.

4.  2013 Kawasaki Z800:

Japanese bike manufacturer Kawasaki, which has long been known for high-performance bikes, showcased India bound Kawasaki Z800 at EICMA. The new middleweight naked sport bike uses an 806cc, liquid-cooled powerplant with a six-speed transmission and snaking, buffed header pipes, just like other Kawasaki bikes known for their Inline-four engines. The bike will be available with two different power options, 93bhp or as a detuned 47bhp model to meet European A2 license restriction. That engine is mounted in a tube-steel backbone frame. There’s optional ABS. It has modern naked bike styling that includes the sideways hour-glass headlight that’s a long-running Kawasaki styling theme. The bike has got a good response at EICMA and now Kawasaki is gearing up to launch it first in Europe and then in rest of the world.

5. 2013 Honda CBR600RR:

 The 2012 EICMA was dominated by Honda as they have showcased some phenomenal bikes here, and CBR600RR was one of these. The bike is heavily based on Honda's Moto GP bike and it will be its street legal counterpart. It joins the 2013 lineup as a complete update of Honda’s long-running middleweight sport bike. New bodywork draws from Honda’s MotoGP experience, the firm says, and reduces aerodynamic drag. A new electronic engine control unit helps increase midrange power, Honda adds, and the new CBR features an electronic steering damper as well. Lighter-looking new wheels feature a 12-spoke, MotoGP-style design. It’s available with ABS and it’s available with a Repsol Honda racing paint scheme, to really drive home the competition connection. The price is still to be announced.

6. 2013 Ducati Hypermotard

 At EICMA, where MV Agusta Rivale was winning the hearts its prime rival Ducati Hypermotard was also there as Ducati gave the Hypermotard its first complete makeover since production began in 2007. This supermoto-style machine is a street bike that has some off-roader traits, longer-travel suspension and a dirt-bike riding position. The 2012 model replaces the old air-cooled, four-valve engine with a new 821cc version of Ducati’s liquid-cooled, eight-valve, 90-degree L-twin engine, boosting output to a claimed 110bhp. It has ride by wire throttle and wet slipper clutch, plus new, low-mounted exhaust replacing the former center-up style mufflers. This second-generation Hypermotard has ABS and traction-control as standard equipment. Announced at EICMA and coming to the U.S. for $11,995, an SP edition will be available for $14,695, with upgraded wheels and suspension and Ducati Corse paint scheme.

7. 2013 Honda CB500 Trio:

 Japanese bike manufacturer Honda was there at EICMA with full of its glory, and has showcased some wonderful bikes including its newly developed 500cc series bikes. These new light-weight bikes has been developed exclusively for Europe and emerging Asian markets. The bikes will also provide more options in middle weight bike segment especially in UK and USA. There are three bikes, which uses a twin-cylinder DOHC engine including Honda CBR500R, CB500F and CB500X. The Honda CBR500R is elder sibling of the Honda CBR250R and it will bridge the space in between CBR600rr and CBR250R. The other bike CB500F is the naked version of the similar bike, which has been brought to provide a cheaper and more in demand option, while the CB500X is the middleweight version of the Honda NC700X. The bikes were catching up most of the eyes at the show and also got good response from bike lovers.

8. Ducati Panigale:

 If you asked us that which bike has impresses most of the audience at 2012 EICMA then the answer will be the Ducati 1199 Panigale. Ducati's unquestioned flagship is the basis for continuing the firm's Superbike championship heritage, and features its first truly totally new engine platform since the mother-of-all Pantah of the mid 1980s. The 1200cc powerplant is still a 90-degree V-twin with desmodromic valve actuation, but inside there are only a handful of components that have been used before. The Superquadro mill is a monster, with a massive power of 195bhp and more than 100 lb-ft of torque. Combine that with the bike's amazingly low claimed 388-pound wet weight, sans fuel, and the Panigale promises serious speed. Of course, it's still fuel-injected and liquid-cooled with four valves per cylinder. But this engine has a gaping, massively over-square 112-mm bore (with 60.8-mm stroke), and—unusual for Ducati—double overhead cams driven by chains and an oil-bathed wet slipper clutch, as opposed to the usual dry type.

9. 2013 BMW F800GT:

BMW Motorrad is unarguably one of the most beloved bike brand among the enthusiasts as they are always come with bikes with top notch technology and unbeatable performance. They showcased the best out of their garage at 2012 EICMA, 2013 BMW F800GT. The bike debuted at EICMA and replaces the former F 800 ST touring bike. Following the pair of huge, six-cylinder touring bikes recently added to its lineup, BMW revealed this middleweight tourer for 2013. Its 798cc, double-overhead-cam parallel twin engine now has more power, BMW claims. That engine comes wrapped in a new, sleeker fairing and it all rolls on new-design wheels. An advanced electronics package includes electronic suspension adjustment and BMW’s automatic stability control (traction control).

10. 2013 Brutus Concept:

Alessandro Tartarini is the son of Leopoldo Taratarini, the founder of Italjet, and he's into motorcycles. Not only into riding and having fun, but also into designing them. And what better occasion to showcase a new bike concept than the present 2012 EICMA. The new bike is called Brutus and it looks at least rough, if not brutal. Alessandro describes his creation as the “SUV of motorcycles”. The bike runs on a single cylinder, 45 bhp, DOHC, four-valve, liquid-cooled 750cc engine with electronic fuel injection and "two-speed" CVT with optional reverse gear. We are not sure that the bike will do wonder or not, but it is an impressive one for sure.
