It’s been exactly a week since Triumph launched its most affordable offering in India, the Trident 660. Priced at Rs 6,95,000 (ex-showroom India), the Trident slots in between the Kawasaki Z650 and the much more expensive Honda CB650R. The bike has now started reaching dealerships across India with deliveries set to begin from April-end. Customers can book the bike for a token amount of Rs 50,000. It comes in four colour options: Crystal White, Sapphire Black, Matt Jet Black with Silver Ice, and Silver Ice with Diablo Red.

The Trident 660 is powered by the same 660cc inline three-cylinder engine that’s seen on the A2-friendly Street Triple S sold in Europe. However, it’s tuned differently to produce 81PS at 10,250rpm and 64Nm at 6,250rpm, linked to a 6-speed transmission with an assist-and-slipper clutch. An extra Rs 29,000 will fetch you Triumph’s bi-directional quickshifter to ensure seamless shifts.

The bike isn’t short on hardware either. You get a premium suspension setup from Showa, Nissin axial calipers, and grippy Michelin Road 5 tyres. The entire package weighs 189kg (kerb). For a hassle-free ownership experience, Triumph offers a two-year unlimited mileage warranty and a generous 16,000km service interval.
