Before you head to your nearest TVS showroom, here’s a list of all the positives and negatives of the RR 310 which should help you make an informed decision
The number of fully faired 300cc motorcycles on sale in India is quite limited. Yes, we do have the Ninja 300 and the KTM RC 390. But while choosing the Ninja will cut a deep hole in your pocket, the KTM will leave you in pain with its aggressive riding stance. So, is there any motorcycle which is easy on the budget and undemanding in urban conditions? Enter the TVS Apache RR 310. We list out all the pros and cons of the motorcycle to help you decide whether you should go for it or not.
Pros:
Looks smashing:
The RR 310’s design is unlike anything we’ve ever seen from TVS. And if you opt for the red paint job, it can help you stand apart from the crowd as well! The projector headlamp, golden forks at the front and the split seat increase its style quotient by a notch, making it look like a 600cc European supersport!
Top notch fit and finish:
Being its first premium product TVS had to make sure that not only was the RR 310 reasonably priced, but the fit and finish of the bike didn’t go for a toss due to that. From the switchgear to each and every bolt, the overall build quality of the RR 310 is spot-on.
Good ride quality:
By the looks of it, the RR 310 seems to be quite an aggressive motorcycle and if you happen to be on a track, it will show its aggressive side. But out in the urban environment, it will help you run your errands effortlessly. The RR 310’s suspension setup offers smooth damping on bad roads, which is quite surprising for a performance bike of its stature.
Cons:
Vibey motor:
If you are planning a long weekend ride, you better make sure that you take a few breaks during your journey as vibrations start to creep in from 5500rpm, with the buzz coming in from the footpegs and handlebars. As you push the bike further, you feel the vibrations on the seat and the sides of the fuel tank as well. However, TVS was quick to act on this issue, and the company had voluntarily recalled the motorcycles for a service, which ironed out most of these issues.
Slightly underpowered
If you are looking for a 300cc motorcycle with outright power, the RR 310 isn’t the one for you. Just to put things into perspective, the KTM 250 Duke, which is around Rs 30,000 more affordable than the RR 310, produces 30PS (just 4PS less than the RR 310). Also, the RC 390, which costs Rs 16,000 more than the RR 310, produces 10PS more than the Apache RR 310. And the bigger KTM also gets ride-by-wire which ensures a crispier throttle response!
Pricey spare parts:
The cost of spare parts for the RR 310 is quite high compared to its rivals, but it’s not as high as its BMW Motorrad cousins, the BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS. So if you are running tight on a budget and the RR 310 is your final choice, then you should factor in this part as well.

Should you buy one?
Absolutely yes! At Rs 2.27 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the RR 310 is priced quite reasonably for a premium 300cc motorcycle. Additionally, the 2019 iteration of the bike gets a slipper clutch and is slightly more refined than the previous model. Now that all niggles have been dealt with, we think the RR 310 deserves your attention.
