The Sherco TVS factory rally team is gearing up for upcoming 2016 Dakar challenge which is considered to be one of the toughest forms of motorsport in the world. This is the second attempt of the Indian manufacturer in the rally with Sherco Motorcycles. The factory team will be comprised of three international riders viz. Alain Duclos from France, Joan Pedrero from Spain and Florent Vayssade from France for 2016 edition. The riders will race on the RTR 450 off-road motorcycles designed by technical masterminds. TVS hasn’t had any significant role to develop this racing machine, but it is expected that the rally will influence the development of upcoming TVS models.
Previously in 2015, the Sherco TVS factory rally team participated in the Dakar challenge and did pretty well as a debut team.
The 38th edition of Dakar Rally is scheduled to flag off on 2 January 2016 at Buenos Aires, Argentina. The race will consist of 14 stages and has a route of 9,319 kms. It will be taking the riders through Argentina and Bolivia and will culminate on 16 January at Villa Carlos Paz, Rosario.
Mr Arvind Pangaonkar, Head of Team TVS Racing, commented on the team’s participation, "From a technical standpoint, participation in the Dakar Rally is the ultimate motorcycling challenge, nothing is really tougher than racing for two weeks across incredibly hostile environments. The close co-operation between TVS and Sherco and the seamless manner in which we learn and share is what makes this partnership stronger.”
