The BS6-compliant iteration features LED headlamp
- The BS6 TVS Star City Plus will be the first 110cc motorcycle in India to get an all-LED headlamp.
- The front fascia is subtly tweaked for a sportier appearance.
- TVS is likely to launch the commuter motorcycle by the end of this month.
TVS has released a teaser of the BS6-compliant iteration of its popular commuter motorcycle, the Star City Plus. The five-second video reveals an all-LED headlamp -- a segment-first in the 110cc category. The rear-view design appears to be the same as the BS4 model.
Interestingly, the design of the headlamp cowl looks sharper than the BS4-compliant version. The lens shrouds appear to have a brushed-metal finish for an added dose of premiumness. One can see refreshed graphics flanking the headlamp too.
Expect TVS to launch the motorcycle at the end of this month for an expected premium of around Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000 over the current-generation model, which retails at Rs 53,502 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The TVS Star City Plus BS6 will be powered by a fuel-injected motor but it is expected to witness a slight decrease in output figures in favour of cleaner emissions. For reference, the BS4-compliant 109.7cc air-cooled carburetted motor churns out 8.4PS at 7000rpm and 8.7Nm at 5000rpm. The 4-speed transmission is likely to remain unchanged.

Being a commuter motorcycle, TVS is unlikely to fiddle with the bike’s underpinnings. Hence, expect it to continue with the same telescopic front fork and 5-step preload-adjustable twin rear shock absorbers. Even the 130mm front and 110mm rear drum brakes are most likely to remain unchanged. Once launched, it will go head-to-head with the Hero Splendor iSmart 110, which is currently the only other BS6-compliant motorcycle in the 110cc segment.
