Kawasaki Z800 Special Edition launched in India

Celebrating 120 years of existence, Kawasaki has launched a special edition Z800 in India. Though the company's first motorcycle was introduced in the 1960s, the brand, which was started with Kawasaki Heavy Industries, has completed 12 decades. The special edition bike gets a unique limited edition livery which comprises of blue, white and red graphics on a black paint scheme, which makes it stand apart from the standard Kawasaki Z800. The company is not charging any additional cost for this special edition paint scheme and it comes with a price tag of Rs 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is similar to the standard version.

Besides the visual update, there are no mechanical alterations to the Kawasaki Z800 special edition. The bike continues to draw power from an 806cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four engine which comes mated to a six-speed transmission. The motor makes 113PS of power at 10,200rpm and delivers a peak torque of 83Nm of at 8,000rpm. The bike is one of the best performing middleweight naked machines and the highly competitive price tag makes it a good deal to go with in its segment.

Apart from the highly aggressive styling, the Kawasaki Z800 features a very communicative chassis with beefy 41mm inverted front forks and a gas-charged rear shock with piggyback reservoir and stepless rebound damping and preload adjustability. The bike runs on fat 120/70 section front and 180/55 section rear tubeless tyres. Braking duties are handled by high-performance dual 310mm front and a 250mm rear petal disc brakes, and the bike also gets ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) as standard.

Kawasaki has also previewed the next-gen Z900 and the Z650, which might replace the existing Z800 and the ER-6n in the coming years. The company could unveil these upcoming models at the EICMA show next month in Milan, Italy. And there we will get more information about the future of the Z800.
