Honda India has launched the 2018 CB1000R+ at Rs 14.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). While the outgoing model was priced at Rs 14.46 lakh, the 2018 model commands a premium of around Rs 1 lakh. The bump in price brings with it more power, more features, electronic rider aids and a gorgeous design. Bookings for the bike are underway at Honda Wing World dealerships in Mumbai and Delhi.

In terms of looks, the bike blends modern styling with just the right amount of retro elements. The bikemaker has managed to strike the right balance, and the result is a bike that’s unlike any Honda we’ve ever seen before.

On the features front, the CB1000R+ gets a flyscreen, seat cowl, swingarm-mounted rear fender, a quick-shifter, heated grips, radiator grill and a front fender panel. Other features include a full-digital instrument console, a horseshoe-shaped all-LED headlight, semi-circular taillamp and a host of premium accessories.

Powering the CB1000R+ is the same old 998cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor but now, it puts out 145PS of power at 10,500rpm and a peak torque of 104Nm at 8,250rpm. That’s a power bump of 20PS and around 5Nm over the outgoing model. The motor comes paired to a 6-speed transmission. Moreover, the four-into-one exhaust system has been tuned to produce a significantly deeper and raw exhaust note.

To harness this power, the CB1000R+ gets a rider aids like a slipper clutch, bi-directional quick-shifter, ride-by-wire for precise throttle control, three rider modes (Standard, Sport, Rain) plus a user setting which includes customisable Power (P), Engine Braking (EB). Additionally, the bike also features Honda’s Selectable Torque Control (HSTC).

It employs a new lightweight mono-backbone steel frame with 43mm Showa SFF-BP USDs and a monoshock at the rear. These units offer full adjustability. Braking setup consists of twin 310mm discs brakes paired with radially mounted 4-piston calipers from Tokico and a single 256mm disc brake at the rear. Dual-channel ABS comes as standard. Its 17-inch alloy wheels come wrapped in 120-section front and fat 190-section rear tyres. At 212kg (kerb), it is around 10kg lighter than the model it replaces.

Available in only the Graphite Black paint scheme, the Honda CB1000R+ competes against the Kawasaki Z1000R, Suzuki GSX-S1000, BMW S 1000 R and the soon-to-be-launched Yamaha MT-10. Alongside the CB1000R, Honda has also commenced bookings for the 2018 Honda Gold Wing Tour DCT priced at Rs 27.79 lakh and the 2019 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade and CBR1000RR Fireblade SP, priced at Rs Rs 16.43 lakh and Rs 19.28 lakh respectively (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
