This should help incentivise adoption of electric vehicles in the State
The past couple of years have definitely brought about a shift toward personal EVs and the policies that the government has passed so far, have been in alignment with the status quo. And after announcing the removal of all taxes associated with EV ownership for the next two years, West Bengal has become the latest to jump on the bandwagon, announcing the removal of taxes will also apply to any electric vehicle bought in the period of April, 2022 to March 2024 in West Bengal.

This policy will translate to lower on-road prices for showroom vehicles and also any vehicle already registered for this financial year would also be able to reap the benefits in the form of tax validity extensions for the number of days the tax has been paid.
With laws such as this, the government hopes to shift the average user toward EVs, which will also attract individuals for their comparatively lower running costs.
