When launched, it will become the most powerful scooter on sale in India
- The C 400 GT packs a large 350cc motor which is torquier than the G 310 R/GS.
- It comes loaded to the gills with modern features, including a colour TFT screen and electronic rider aids.
- We expect it to carry a price tag of around Rs 7 lakh.
BMW Motorrad India has been teasing us with the C 400 GT for sometime now. Its social media channels have posted about the maxi-scooter’s arrival once again, leading us to believe that the launch of the C 400 GT is nearly upon us. It will be a pricey proposition but nevertheless, here’s what it packs.

The C 400 GT is the smaller of the two BMW ICE maxi-scooters, the other being the C 650 GT. It has a traditional look with a prominent spine. The fuel tank is located in the floor of the scooter, thus freeing up space under the seat and giving you 45 litres worth of storage capacity. You get full LED lighting, a colour TFT screen like the big Beemers, and a USB charging socket in the front right storage compartment to charge your digital devices on the go.
Maxi-scooters are meant to take you places and for that very purpose you get a large 350cc mill on the C 400 GT. Keeping the confusion between the cee cees and the scooter’s name aside, the C 400 GT’s motor puts out 34PS and 35Nm. That’s the same power as the G 310s but it has 7Nm more on hand. It weighs quite a bit and wouldn’t be as quick as the G 310s. Having said that, BMW claims it can max out at 139kmph, which is crazy fast for a scooter.
Are you game for the idea of a large maxi-scooter? Because we seem to be on the verge of something big shaking up the scooter segment. The Yamaha Aerox 155 was just the start and soon the Honda Forza 350 would also make its way down to the country.
