BREAKING: Honda XBlade BS6 Launched

The BS6-compliant X-Blade is torquier than before and even gets an optional rear disc brake

The Honda X-Blade BS6 has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 1,06,687 (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes it Rs 17,551 dearer than the BS4-compliant XBlade. The new motorcycle is available in two variants and you can check out their ex-showroom prices in Delhi below:

The premium seems to be a lot, but for the added cost, the Japanese brand offers an all-new counterbalanced engine shared with the Honda Unicorn BS6. This 162.71cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected motor makes 13.8PS at 8000rpm and 14.7Nm at 5500rpm. In comparison, the Unicorn produces 12.9PS and 14Nm. If you compare the X-Blade’s BS6 engine with the carburetted BS4 model, it makes 0.3PS less but 0.8Nm more. The engine is linked to a 5-speed transmission.

The BS6-compliant version tips the scales at 143kg kerb for the drum variant. That’s just 1kg more than the BS4 bike. The BS6 X-Blade gets an optional 220mm petal disc at the rear for the first time. This version weighs 144kg, kerb. The BS6-compliant bike also gets new graphics and colour schemes for a refreshed look. Apart from these, the rest of the bike remains unchanged. It retains the same 276mm petal disc up front with single-channel ABS, telescopic front fork, rear monoshock and a 12-litre fuel tank.

There have been no additions in terms of features either. The bike continues to use a fully digital instrument cluster with gear position indicator and a service due indicator apart from the regular trove of information. The bike gets the same robotic-looking LED headlamp as before. Even the tyre specifications: 80-section front and 130-section rear remain unchanged. Along with the already-existing hazard lamp switch, Honda has now also included an engine kill switch in the BS6-compliant model. 

The Honda X-Blade BS6 is available in four colours: Pearl Spartan Red, Pearl Igneous Black, Matte Axis Grey Metallic and Matte Marvel Blue Metallic. Like the rest of the BS6-compliant models, Honda offers a three-year warranty as standard on this bike, with the option to extend it to three more years. Overall, the bike seems to be a little overpriced for what it offers. For around the same price as the top-end variant of the X-Blade BS6, you could get the Bajaj Pulsar 180F Neon that offers a more powerful engine with 17.02PS and 14.52Nm on tap. Other rivals for the bike in this segment include the TVS Apache RTR 160 and the Bajaj Pulsar 150.
