BS6 Honda Bikes & Scooters Achieve 3 Lakh Sales Milestone

The company launched its first BS6-compliant two-wheeler, the Activa 125, back in September 2019

• Honda’s first BS6-compliant motorcycle was the SP 125.
• In December 2019, Honda’s BS6 lineup crossed the 60,000 mark.
• The company says all of its plants are currently manufacturing only BS6-compliant two-wheelers.
• Honda has also confirmed that it will launch BS6-compliant versions of the rest of its two-wheelers in the coming weeks.

Honda’s BS6-compliant lineup has achieved the three lakh sales milestone. This comes about five months after its first BS6-compliant two-wheeler, the Activa 125 BS6, was launched. That’s a steep climb considering back in December, it had reached the 60,000 unit sales mark with just the Activa 125 BS6 and the SP 125 in its lineup.

At present, Honda sells the Activa 125 BS6, Activa 6G, Shine BS6, Dio BS6 and SP 125 as a part of its BS6 lineup. Honda has also confirmed that all its four factories in India have started manufacturing only BS6-compliant two-wheelers. Honda says it will introduce BS6-compliant two-wheelers across segments in the coming weeks. That said, it is unlikely that Honda might update every single one of its BS4-compliant two-wheeler to BS6 compliance. Based on the market performance one or more two-wheelers might kick the bucket. Noteworthy, all four factories of Honda have swiftly moved to 100% BS-VI production with one month still remaining for BS-VI deadline.
