A few days ago, Yamaha had unveiled the all-new BS6 Ray ZR 125 Fi alongside the new Fascino 125 Fi. However, the Japanese bike maker will only launch the new Ray ZR 125 Fi in February. We expect the BS6 Ray ZR to get a price increment of around Rs 10,000, which would bring the final asking price to around Rs 67,000 (ex-showroom).
Just like its predecessor, the new Ray ZR 125 Fi is available in two variants - standard and Street Rally. So, is there any difference between the two models apart from the paint scheme? Head here to know. It’s not just that Yamaha has given the BS6 Ray ZR a new set of clothes, it has equipped it with new features and mechanical parts as well.
For instance, it gets a new digital instrument cluster, LED DRLs, an ACG starter for smooth starts and a side stand cutoff, which will now come as a standard feature on all future Yamaha models. It is powered by a new BS6-compliant 125cc motor that pumps out 8.2PS and 9.7Nm. This is 1PS and 1.6Nm more than 113cc motor seen on the older model. At 58kmpl, Yamaha claims the new powerplant is 16 per cent more efficient than the older variant. However, we will reserve our judgement until we do a proper road test of the new Ray ZR 125 Fi. Apart from the new and bigger motor, what else is new in the BS6 Ray ZR? Head here to find out.
The Ray ZR 125 Fi marks Yamaha’s entry into the world of sporty 125cc scooter segment, which means it goes up against big names like the TVS NTorq 125 and the Honda Grazia.
