News emanating from the Ducati stables for the 2013 MotoGP World Championship is that they have signed an agreement with American Ben Spies and Italian Andrea Iannone to compete in the 2013 MotoGP World Championship. Ben Spies also known as "Elbowz" due to his riding stance where his elbows protrude outward during racing is one of the most celebrated racers on the AMA Superbike Championship where he won consecutive titles in 2006, 2007 and 2008 with Yoshimura Suzuki. He continued his form into the Superbike World Championship series for the Yamaha Italia team; winning the championship in his rookie year by six points over rival Noriyuki Haga. He currently lives in Italy.
Andrea Iannone, meanwhile is more of a rookie on the circuit, but is someone with immense talent. He currently is a racer for the Italian Speed Master Team competing in the Moto2 world championship. He turned professional in 2010, impressing straightaway with a 3rd place position in the Moto2 World with 177 points. He secured 18 podiums with 8 wins out of the 45 races he competed in. The Ducati team has already confirmed their riders for the 2012 MotoGP World Championship in Nicky Hayden and announced Andrea Dovizioso. Thus, the Italian Bike manufacturer has confirmed and reaffirmed its confidence in and commitment to the MotoGP World Championship with riders who are already the leaders in MotoGP and Moto2 World Championships.
