Electric Ducati Scooter Unveiled!

If you thought the rumours of Ducati working on an electric two-wheeler were surprising, well, the end result might surprise you even more. The Bologna-based company has taken the wraps off its first electric scooter, called the Super Soco CUx.

But wait, this is not an out-and-out Ducati two-wheeler. Instead, the company will be selling Super Soco scooters under ‘Ducati’ branding. Super Soco is a British company which specializes in electric scooters and mopeds. Ducati also uses them as paddock bikes at MotoGP races.
Let’s take a closer look at what the CUx has to offer. Starting with the features, it gets a front camera, an LCD instrument panel with an auto-dimming feature, keyless start, anti-theft alarm and all-LED lighting.
The Super Soco CUx packs a Bosch rear hub motor which produces 3.7PS of power and, according to the company, 115Nm of torque. Powering it all is a 1.8kWh battery pack which takes 7 to 8 hours to charge and offers a range of 64km. The company also claims a top speed of 45kmph. Underpinnings here consists of telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking hardware consists of front and rear (both 180mm) disc brakes, with EBS (Electronic Braking System).
Ducati has limited the sale of the scooter to European countries for now, with a price tag of £2299 (Rs 1.8 lakh approx). Going forward, Ducati has also said that they will be working on an electric motorcycle. Well, we for one can’t wait.
