Honda’s venerable scooter has been topping the charts for the fourth consecutive month!
- The Honda Activa range recorded a total sale of 2,81,273 units in October this year.
- The Hero’s Splendor range trails behind with a tally of 2,64,137 units.
- These two-wheelers have been dominating the market for quite some time now.
The Honda Activa range has tallied 2,81,273 units, whereas the sales figures of the Hero Splendor range has fallen behind by 17,136 units. Honda now leads the sales chart for the fourth consecutive month. In June this year, it was the Splendor which led the sales numbers with a tally of 2,42,743 units, just 6,004 units more than the Activa range.
However, both two-wheelers have been the country’s best-selling ones in their respective segments. The Activa range has single-handedly been the best-selling scooter whereas the Splendor range has been at the top of the motorcycle category for several years now. Some of the primary factors for the two-wheelers’ popularity is their reliability, ease of ownership, and a familiar design language that have made them a household name in the hearts of millions of Indians across the country.
In fact, the two products have stood tall while other two-wheelers have witnessed a significant drop in their sales figures thanks to the ongoing economic slowdown. However, their popularity has also caused the two brands to rely (to a certain extent) a little too much on their cash cows.
The two brands intend to continue the two two-wheelers’ legacy in the years to come. Hero has already updated the Splendor to comply with BS6 emission norms whereas Honda started future proofing its products with the launch of the BS6-compliant Activa 125. Apart from the other two-wheelers in their respective lineups, expect both brands to introduce the BS6-compliant version of the Activa 5G and the Super Splendor well before the emission deadline. This will help the two manufacturers have better control over the remaining stock of BS4-compliant models.
