Honda Activa Creates History, Achieves One Crore Unit Sales in India

The best selling scooter in India, Honda Activa recently achieved another milestone when it registered a majestic total unit sales of 1 crore since its inception in the year 2001. The first product from Honda’s portfolio in the country, the Activa, succeeded way ahead of the company’s expectations and made the scooter market alive again with its superior all-round performance and premium looks.

Honda Activa became the market leader in the scooter segment in just 3 years with 55,000 units sold in the initial year of 2001. After that, the vehicle has been seeing constant progress with its recent selling numbers standing at an impressive 2.1 million units in FY’2014-15. With this, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) is undisputedly the market leader in Indian scooter segment with a commanding 59% share.

Honda Activa is midweight utility scooter, which is available in 110cc and 125cc engine capacities. The scooter comes with a host of convenience features such as Combi Braking System (CBS), Convenient Lift-up Independent Cover (CLIC) and Honda Eco Technology (HET) that helps it achieve a respectable mileage of 60kmpl as claimed by the company. The one crore unit sales of Activa in the country simply means that one out of two scooter customers here owns a Honda Activa.
