Honda dealerships across India have commenced deliveries for its mid-displacement sportbike, the CBR650R. The bike is priced at Rs 7.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which is a price hike of around Rs 32,000 over the CBR650F. Enthusiasts can book the CBR650R for a token amount of Rs 15,000. The much-anticipated sportbike makes its way to India via the CKD route with two shades on offer: red and black. As for its dealership network, it's sold via all 22 Honda Wing World dealerships in India.
Powering the CBR650R is a 649cc liquid-cooled, inline-four cylinder engine. It dishes out 88PS of power at 11,500rpm and a maximum torque of 60.1Nm at 8000rpm. It gets a 6-speed transmission aided by a new slipper clutch. Additional rider aids come in the form of switchable traction control, or as the brand calls it, “Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC).”
Its suspension setup comprises of Showa 41mm upside forks and a monoshock, while twin discs up front and a single disc at the rear anchor the bike when needed. The bike’s 17-inch alloy wheels come wrapped in a 120/70- section tyre up front and a fat 180/55-section tyre at the rear. As for its rivals, the Honda CBR650R competes in two classes. It goes up against the Kawasaki Ninja 650, priced at Rs 5.89 lakh, in terms of displacement; and the Suzuki GSX-S750 (Rs 7.46 lakh) and Kawasaki Z900 (Rs 7.69 lakh), if we consider its pricing and engine layout.
