The launch of the Honda Activa 6G has given us a fair idea of what to expect from the upcoming Dio BS6
After the Activa 125 BS6 and the SP 125 BS6, Honda has launched its first BS6-compliant 110cc scooter, the Activa 6G. Honda had mentioned earlier that every BS6 product will come with a new feature. Hence, the features introduced in the recently-launched BS6 two-wheelers give us a fair idea of what the upcoming Honda Dio BS6 might get:
New BS6-compliant, tech-laden engine:
The Honda Dio BS6 is expected to get the same engine as the Activa 6G. In the Activa, the new BS6-compliant 109.51cc single-cylinder fuel-injected motor churns out 7.79PS at 8000rpm and 8.79Nm at 5250rpm. Expect the motor to have the same state of tune in the BS6-compliant Dio as well. The current-generation model produces 7.92PS at 7000rpm and 8.91Nm at 5500rpm. Sure, the Honda Dio BS6 might be less powerful than the existing model, but Honda is expected to offset this with the addition of a number of features.

Like the Activa 6G, the Dio BS6 is also expected to get an ACG (Alternating Current Generator) starter for silent startups. For better cooling efficiency, the engine is expected to get a piston cooling jet. To ensure reduced friction and better combustion, it could feature offset piston (for reduced friction) and tumble flow technology (for improved combustion) like the Activa 6G.
Could finally get telescopic front fork!
Like the Honda Activa 6G, the Japanese brand could also offer a telescopic front fork in the upcoming Dio BS6. The rear could feature a three-step adjustable shock absorber too. Even the 12-inch alloy wheel up front is likely to be carried over. However, the rear wheel is likely to be a 10-inch unit and the 130mm drum brakes (front and rear) are also expected to remain unchanged. Of course, the scooter will get a combined braking system as standard to comply with the safety laws.
May Get New features too:
Now that Honda has finally provided an external fuel filler cap in the Activa 6G, expect the manufacturer to offer it in the Dio as well. Consequently, the side panels and the rear portion of the scooter could witness a subtle update. As for the instrument cluster, Honda could afford to miss out on the digital inset on the Activa 6G as it is just a value-added feature for this family-oriented scooter. On the other hand, the Dio is more of a youth-centric scooter, so Honda could retain the fully digital LCD instrument console. The LED headlamp might be retained too.
Could command a reasonable premium:
The price difference between the Honda Activa 5G and the Activa 6G ranges from Rs 7,600 to Rs 7,900. Similarly, expect the Dio BS6 to also command a similar premium. The BS4-compliant Dio is currently sold at Rs 54,241 for the Standard model and Rs 56,241 for the DLX variant (ex-showroom Delhi). That said, the Dio BS6 is most likely to marginally undercut the BS6 Activa 6G in terms of pricing. Honda is expected to launch the Dio BS6 in a few months, so stay tuned for more updates!
