Honda to increase production of Activa by 300 units per day

India's one of the leading two-wheeler manufacturer, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is planning to increase production of its most popular scooter in India, Honda Activa by 300 units per day. The company has stood at 50 per cent market stake of scooters in the auto market. Sharad Pradhan,regional head-west of HMSI said," We are presently manufacturing 2100 units of Honda Activa per day at the Honda's Manesar Plant in Harayana that will be increased to around 2400 Activas per day. HMSI wants to reduce the five month long wait period for the vehicle by the manufacturing more than existing production capacity in the Indian auto market. An Ahmadabad based dealer of HMSI two-wheelers, Punjab Honda said, there was a high demand of more than 3000 Activa's per month in the city. HMSI is ready to open a new greenfield two-wheeler plant at Alwar in Rajasthan in the next year and it will manufacture only motorcycles. The company is expecting to produce 6 lakh two-wheelers annually at the second plant in Rajasthan. The new plant will support ease the pressure off the Manesar unit and will speedily deliver of popular models like the Activa. HMSI stood at an respective market stake of 13 percent in the two-wheeler market in India. The company currently products line up are eight vehicles across categories. Last month, Honda Motor launched a new sportier version of its most selling products in the premium segment, Honda Unicorn. The new version is known as Honda CB Dazzler in India. The new CB Dazzler is available at a price tag of Rs. 62,900 (ex-showroom-Delhi). The company sold one lakh units of Unicorn in the previous fiscal year, now targeting to increase sales growth of around 1.2 lakh of the CB series this current financial year. Meanwhile, Yamaha Motor is going to introduce its two new premium bikes, Yamaha SZ and Yamaha YZF R125 soon in India.
