Both have similar bobber designs but some substantial differences too

Jawa 42 Bobber vs Jawa Perak: Differences Explained

Jawa recently launched the 42 Bobber, a bike with bobber styling, that’ll co-exist with the company’s current bobber, the Perak. So how different are the two bobbers from Jawa? Let’s find it out via a set of detailed images:

Design

Jawa 42 Bobber Design

While the bikes might look similar from a distance, a closer inspection will reveal the differences between the bikes. The New Jawa 42 Bobber ditches the Perak’s complete old school styling for a more modern and sporty design. The Perak’s basic round halogen headlight and its nacelle is replaced by an naked LED headlight on the 42 Bobber and a digital instrument console on top of it, more on that later.

Jawa Perak Design

Another difference in terms of design is the 42 Bobber’s muscular fuel tank with sporty cuts and creases. It also gets rubber pads to grip onto the tank. The Perak, on the other hand, in line with its fully retro theme, gets a peanut-shaped tank.

Other changes on the 42 Bobber include a redesigned rear fender and taillight assembly. It also has a conventional taillight, while the Perak gets an underseat unit.

Ergonomics

This part is where both the motorcycles really differ. The 42 Bobber’s handlebars are raised and wider, and foot pegs set further ahead for a more upright, feet-forward riding position as compared to the Perak’s. The 42 Bobber’s single-piece seat has also been re-cushioned and can be adjusted forward or backward by about 25mm.

Features

The 42 Bobber’s modern approach is also visible through its instrument cluster. On the 42 Bobber, you get a modern digital instrument cluster along with a switch cube on the handlebar to toggle through it. The Perak, on the other hand, makes do with an old-school analogue cluster which feels rather basic compared to the 42 Bobber’s unit.

Jawa 42 Bobber Suspension

One last change includes retuned suspension on the 42 Bobber to suit its sporty avatar, and other bits like the engine and underpinnings remain the same. That said, the biggest difference between the two bobbers is the price. While the Perak costs Rs 2,09,187, the new 42 Bobber can be had for a more accessible price tag of Rs 2,06,500 (ex-showroom). The 42 Bobber, hence, sounds like the perfect mix between a retro design with modern elements, at a lower price.
