As many as 82 alleged stunt riders were rounded up
As many as 82 riders, allegedly involved in illegally stunting as well as racing on public roads, were arrested by Mumbai police in the early hours of April 4. Moreover, 48 two-wheelers were also seized, a glimpse of which can be seen here:

The police took this action in response to repeated complaints of riders going at high speeds on the Western Express Highway, a stretch of elevated road on which two-wheelers are in any case not allowed. Hence, after a tip-off in the late hours of April 3, a team of police officials cordoned off the stretch from Kherwadi junction to Milan Subway, and took the bikers into custody.
Along with riding rashly, the riders were not only riding without gear, but a few of them were supposedly underage, and a majority also allegedly did not have the requisite documents. Further investigations also revealed that some of the riders present may have been also allegedly involved in placing bets on the races.
Summing up, such actions give a bad name to motorcyclists everywhere. Now, as always, we urge everyone to always wear proper riding gear, keep all their documents ready and updated, and follow traffic rules. If you’re bitten by the racing bug, we’d advise you to always head to the nearest race track and ride under experts’ supervision, like our correspondent’s experiences during the inaugural round of the KTM RC Cup.
