Triumph Bonneville Range Goes Gold

The British bikemaker has launched the Gold Line Editions of its Bonneville lineup in India

• The Gold Line Editions of all the bikes feature premium cosmetic finishes with matching accessories available as options.
• The variants were unveiled globally in November this year.
• They are around Rs 60,000- Rs 80,000 more than their respective standard iterations.

Triumph has launched the Gold Line Edition of its entire Bonneville range, namely the T100, T120 (and T120 Black), Bobber, Speedmaster, and the Street Scrambler in India.  While the Bonneville T100 and the Street Scrambler Gold Line Editions are Rs 60,000 dearer than their respective standard models, the Bonneville Bobber, Speedmaster, T120 and T120 Black Gold Line variants command a premium of Rs 80,000 over their respective standard models.

Triumph says the Gold Line Editions usually come with a dual-tone colour scheme, and the point where the two colours meet is flattened down, and the gold pin stripe is hand painted by the artist (using a special paint), usually in one continuous stroke. The paint is then sealed with a coat of lacquer. There are only six artists in Triumph who are capable of doing this (one in Thailand and five in the UK), and each motorcycle comes with the signed initials of the artist for an added touch of authenticity. Here’s what each bike gets:

Bonneville T100 & T120 range:

The Bonneville T100, Triumph’s entry-level retro offering, retails at Rs 10,09,000, and comes with a silver colour scheme (called Silver Ice) with green stripes (called Competition Green) on the side panels and on top of the fuel tank. The two colours are separated by thin green pin stripes. The powertrain and the wheels are blacked out whereas the exhaust comes with a brushed metal finish.

The Triumph Bonneville T120 also gets the same colour scheme but the spoke wheels aren’t blacked out. On the other hand, the T120 Black gets a matte black colour scheme (known as Matt Sapphire Black) with Matt Silver Ice stripes in place of the green one in the T100. For a stealthy look, the powertrain, exhaust as well as the wheels get a proper blacked-out treatment. Both the T120 and the T120 Black Gold Line Editions are priced at Rs 11,79,000.

Bonneville Bobber:

Triumph’s iconic Bonneville Bobber comes with an attention-grabbing Carnival Red paint scheme on the fuel tank and fenders with gold Triumph logo on the fuel tank and Bobber logo on the Sapphire Black side panels. For extra sportiness, Triumph has also offered twin Sapphire Black racing stripes on the fuel tank with hand-painted gold lining. This one will set you back by Rs 12,75,000.

Bonneville Speedmaster:

The Gold Line Edition of the more practical version of the Bobber, called the Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster, comes a more subtle Silver Ice finish on the fuel tank with gold lining around the brushed metal knee pads (the Bobber also gets brushed pads on the tank), and hand-painted gold pinstripes surrounding the twin Sapphire Black racing stripes across the centre. The fenders and the side panels are blacked out, with the latter getting a gold-finished Speedmaster logo. Triumph has priced the cruiser at the same price as the Bobber Gold Line, at Rs 12,75,000. 

Bonneville Street Scrambler:

The Triumph Bonneville Street Scrambler Gold Line Edition is priced at Rs 9,95,000, and is draped in Matt Pacific Blue colour scheme on the fuel tank with offset racing stripe and hand-painted gold lining along with gold coloured Triumph logo. The Street Scrambler logo on the side panels also come in gold font. The rest of the motorcycle, including the powertrain and underpinnings are all finished in black. While the Street Scrambler is all about trail bashing, the new Gold Line colour scheme adds a little bit of sophistication to the capable scrambler. 

All in all, the new Gold Line Editions really up the premium quotient of the classic Triumph motorcycles. We have to say, the Gold Line Edition of the Bonnie Bobber looks the flashiest among the lot, and is perfect for those who want to cruise around town in style. If you are looking for something more stealthy, then the Bonneville T120 Black Gold Line Edition ticks all the right boxes.
