TVS had trademarked the Retron name last year
Hot on the heels of the launch of the Raider, TVS is set to introduce another new offering on October 7. The company didn’t reveal much in the media invite, but we reckon it will likely be a new scooter, considering TVS now has a 125cc motorcycle on sale.
For quite some time, the internet has been abuzz with rumours of the TVS Jupiter 125, and the possibility cannot be ruled out. While the Hosur-based manufacturer has the sporty NTorq 125, there’s no family-oriented scooter, a gap which the Jupiter 125 may just fill. And if our speculation proves correct, then TVS will compete with the Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125, and the Yamaha Fascino Hybrid.

The company might use the 124.8cc 3-valve single-cylinder engine from the NTorq 125 but re-tune it to cater to a different customer base. We can also expect a mature design language with LED illumination and LED DRL (as the media invite showcases).
That said, the new product could be the Retron. TVS had filed a trademark for the name last year, and it is highly likely that this could be launched. The TVS Retron, as the name suggests, could be a retro-styled motorcycle, which will be a fresh alternative to the regular crop of commuters like the Honda Unicorn, Yamaha FZ-Fi and the Suzuki Gixxer 155.
That said, TVS has been tight-lipped about it all. But we will be riding the new model soon, so keep following this space for all the updates.
