The Honda CB300R, CRF250L, CRF250L and Rebel 300 have been recalled for transmission issues
- Honda CB300R recalled for faulty circlip in the transmission.
- India-spec CB300R unaffected by the recall.
- Honda says it will replace the faulty part free of cost.
Honda has voluntarily recalled around 4,000 units of its small capacity motorcycles in the US. Bikes such as the 2018-19 CB300R, CFR250L, CFR250L Rally and the Rebel 300 have been recalled to address a possible defect in the transmission. Thankfully, officials from Honda India have assured us that the India-spec CB300R, which was launched in February this year, will not be affected by this recall.
The recall is due to an error at the manufacturing level. Honda has said that the circlip found in the transmission’s main shaft could detach, which could lead to gear misalignment. Circlips are an essential part of a motorcycle’s transmission that holds the components in the right place. If the circlips detach, it could cause the transmission to accidentally shifting from neutral into gear when the engine is started. It can even lead to the rear wheel locking up while the bike is in motion. Both scenarios are pretty hazardous and Honda has preemptively issued this recall to prevent any possible injury to riders.
