Honda CD 110 Dream BS6 Launched

It is the first 110cc BS6-compliant motorcycle from Honda

Honda has launched its first 110cc motorcycle in India, the CD 110 Dream at a starting price of Rs 62,729 (ex-showroom Ahmedabad). This makes it Rs 13,695 more expensive than the corresponding BS4-compliant model. The Honda CD 110 Dream BS6 is available in two variants: Standard and Deluxe. The only difference in the variants are the colour schemes an the Deluxe variant is Rs 1,000 dearer. Honda will start dispatching the bike to its showrooms in a few days. 

At a starting price of Rs 49,034 (ex-showroom Ahmedabad) the BS4 CD 110 Dream was Honda’s most affordable motorcycle in India and it is likely to continue the distinction in its BS6 avatar as well. Now that this motorcycle has been launched, expect Honda to bring out the BS6 Dream Yuga and the Dream Neo too. 

The Honda CD 110 Dream BS6 is also the first bike in its segment to get a standard 3 year warranty along with a free extra three-year extended warranty. That said, the six-year warranty package is for a limited time. Another segment-first feature is the inclusion of a silent starter motor for quick and noiseless engine start ups. It also gets a segment-first engine kill switch - something that Honda doesn't offer even in its more premium bikes like the CB Hornet 160R or even the CBR150R.

Like the Honda Activa 6G, the CD 110 Dream also gets an all-new, more powerful 109.51cc fuel-injected BS6-compliant engine. It features several friction reduction technologies and Honda claims that it offers better mileage than the BS4-compliant version. This motor generates 8.79PS at 7500rpm and 9.3Nm at 5500rpm. It works in conjunction with a 4-speed transmission. In comparison, the BS4-compliant version made 8.42PS at 7500rpm and 9.09Nm at 5000rpm.

Other notable features include a DC halogen headlamp, pass-beam switch, low rolling resistance rear tyre for better mileage at the expense of outright grip and a 15mm longer seat. Thanks to the emission controlling equipment, the bike's kerb weight has gone up by 1kg, tipping the scale at 112kg kerb. Interestingly, the ground clearance has gone down from 179mm in the BS4 bike to 162mm in the BS6-compliant version.

The subtly redesigned bodywork along with the new graphics makes the bike look a bit smarter than before. Underpinnings include a telescopic front fork, twin rear shock absorbers, 130mm drum brake on both ends with CBS as standard. In terms of rivals, the Honda CD 110 Dream BS6 will compete against the Hero HF Deluxe BS6, TVS Sport BS6 and Bajaj CT110. All in all, Honda has tried to justify the massive premium fairly well with the inclusion of a brand new engine and a few nifty features, along with fresher looks.
