A 125cc moped meant for off-roading? Yes, you read that right
- The CT125 concept is based on the Super Cub.
- It gets a 125cc single-cylinder motor that makes 9.7PS and 10.8Nm.
- The CT125 features a high-set exhaust, spoke wheels and a luggage rack!
The 2019 Tokyo Motor Show is just around the corner and manufacturers are gearing up to show off their latest high-end two-wheelers to please the eyes of enthusiasts. Amongst many other interesting two-wheelers, Honda will be bringing a small 125cc moped called the CT125 at the show. Unlike other step-through mopeds that we have seen over the years, the CT125 is an off-road(ish) machine. While we would love to thrash the little CT125 in the dirt, it’s just a concept for now.
The CT125 concept is based on Honda’s Super Cub. But where the Cub is an urban scooter, the CT125 is a scrambler derivation. It gets a high-set exhaust system, spoke wheels, steel fender and a luggage rack. Powering this mini off-roader is the same 124.9cc air-cooled engine as seen in the Honda Grom. This motor belts out 9.7PS of power and 10.8Nm of torque, which is slightly more than the TVS NTorq 125’s power output!
As aforementioned, the CT125 is just a concept, but so was the Honda Monkey. But the manufacturer still went on and brought the adorable Monkey to life. So we should expect the CT125 to head into production in a few years. But don’t get your hopes high, as we don’t see it coming to India anytime soon.
