Honda to launch a premium commuter under Dream Series soon

Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India Limited (HMSI), the second largest two wheeler manufacturers in India, is the fastest growing two-wheeler manufacturer in India for sure. To give its growth a new pace, HMSI now has decided to give more focus to the segment for masses. While, the largest two wheeler manufacturer- Hero MotoCorp is developing unique products, unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014, Honda is working on commuters for both scooter and motorcycle segments. After unveiling its highest capacity scooter in India- Activa 125 recently, the company is planning to bring in a new model of Dream series.
The new Honda Dream will be a premium commuter with some advance features to allure the masses in India, like Mahindra Centuro and new Bajaj Discover series. Based on the existing Dreams’ platform the bike will use similar 109cc, air-cooled, single cylinder engine, which churns out a maximum power of 8.4Nm along with a peak torque of 8.63Nm. There might be slight changes in the body work; however, the body graphics will be totally new.
As the new Honda Dream will be placed above Dream Yuga and Dream Neo, it will be launched with some extra features like optional disc brake and new digital-analog console. Honda might also introduce some new and advance, segment above features like introduced by other manufacturers in their recent products and expected to be priced between Rs. 52,000 – 55,000.
To expand the current production capacity in India, Honda is investing 1,100 crore to bring their new manufacturing facility in works from 2015 in Ahmedabad, Gujrat. It will be the fourth HMSI facility with a capacity to roll out 12 lakh vehicles in initial stage. The company is also planning to manufacture CBR650F in India, which is also expected to condense the middle size performance bike segment of the Indian market by 2016.
