Ducati Multistrada 1260 India Launch On June 19

The Multistrada 1260 will replace the Multistrada 1200 range in the country

Ducati India has officially announced the launch date of the Multistrada 1260. The Italian bikemaker will be launching the motorcycle on the 19th of this month. The 1260’s design is in line with the Multistrada family, but the front side fairing, among other minor things, has been redesigned for better aerodynamics. The Ducati App-compatible multifunction TFT display is new and is more intuitive than the erstwhile model.

The Multistrada 1260 draws power from a 1,262cc L-twin Ducati Testastretta DVT engine that’s good for 158PS at 9500rpm and 129.5Nm at 7500rpm. The powerplant works in tandem with a 6-speed slipper clutch-enabled transmission. Compared to the Multistrada 1200, the new bike’s power and torque figures are down by 2PS and 6.5Nm respectively. However, Ducati has tuned the engine for a briskier and wider spread of torque at low revs, for better usability. Vehicle Hold Control, Riding Modes, Power Modes, Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control and cruise control are some of the electronic aids that come with the motorcycle.

The Multistrada 1260 in the US market comes in two more variants apart from the base model: the 1260 S and the 1260 Pikes Peak. India will be getting the standard variant and the Multistrada 1260 S. Chief rivals of the bike in the segment include the 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 and the BMW R 1200 GS.
