Honda has sent us a press invite for the official launch of the Honda Activa 6G which will take place on January 15, 2020. It will replace the current Activa 5G BS4 model. For 2020, the scooter is likely to be updated with a greener, more fuel-efficient engine, revised styling, and a couple of extra features.

The biggest change will come with its updated 109.19cc engine. In a bid to comply with BS6 regulations, the scooter is likely to come with fuel-injection and an ECU. As a result, power figures may witness a small dip. The current-gen BS4 model, for instance, produces 8PS at 7500rpm and 9Nm at 5500rpm. Honda could possibly carry over its start-stop tech from the Activa 125 BS6, which will improve fuel efficiency by a margin.
The Activa 6G is likely to receive minor design updates to keep it looking fresh. It may feature a new headlight design, a semi-digital instrument console, and chrome elements. There’s also a possibility that Honda may add an external fuel-filler cap and a side-stand cut-off switch.

We believe the scooter will remain unchanged aside from these updates. Essentially, it will use the same spring-loaded suspension upfront and a monoshock at the rear. A front disc brake could be offered as an option. Its 10-inch wheels will come wrapped in 100-section tyres with drum brakes at either end offering anchorage.
Considering the changes, we can expect the Activa 6G to carry a premium of around 5,000 to Rs 10,000 over the standard BS4 model, which retails at Rs 55,934 (ex-Delhi).
